ABC Quilt - Danish Pulled Thread Sampler
A wonderful way to showcase this traditional technique. The lace-like effect is created with pulled thread embroidery resulting from the fabric threads being distorted by the tightly pulled working thread. As pulled thread embroidery involves no cutting it does not weaken the fabric in any way. This technique is particularly useful for decorating household linens.
This booklet includes the instructions, diagrams and photographs for twenty-eight pulled thread stitches, along with tips for obtaining the best finish to your work. The majority of the stitch variations are new to JC Embroidery booklets and not included in previous JCE publications.
Use the stitches in a project of your choice, or like me use up some of the fabric stash. The examples in the quilt are stitched on a variety of fabrics from 25-32ct, a variety of colours, with the common factor being the ecru thread used throughout.
Included are comprehensive stitch diagrams for twenty-eight pulled thread stitches, with layout and construction instructions for the quilt.
